Our story

Built on Compassion. Driven by Community.

L.WAAKO Helping Hands Foundation.org was born from a simple belief: that no one should face homelessness alone, and that with the right support, anyone can find their way back to stability.

Our mission

Restoring Dignity, One Family at a Time

Temporary homelessness can happen to anyone — a job loss, a medical crisis, a family breakdown. It doesn't define who you are. What matters is what happens next.

Our mission is to bridge the gap between crisis and stability. We provide immediate shelter assistance, essential resources, and compassionate guidance to help individuals and families regain their footing — with dignity intact.

What guides us

Our Core Values

Dignity First

Every person who walks through our doors is treated with unconditional respect. We see the whole person, not just the crisis.

No Judgment

Homelessness can happen to anyone. We create a safe, shame-free space where people feel heard and supported.

Real Action

We don't just offer sympathy — we offer shelter, resources, and a concrete path forward. Action over words, always.

Community Rooted

We are part of the community we serve. Our work is shaped by the people we help and the neighbors who support us.

The founding story

Why We Started

L.WAAKO Helping Hands Foundation.org was founded after witnessing firsthand how quickly a family's life can unravel — and how little support exists in the critical window between crisis and recovery.

What began as a grassroots effort to connect neighbors in need with local resources has grown into a structured foundation serving hundreds of families each year. The name reflects a personal commitment: helping hands that show up, stay present, and never give up.

Today, we continue that founding spirit — meeting people where they are, with warmth, without judgment, and with everything we have.
